let the games begin

let the games begin

we picked each
other out
of the crowded
neighborhood cliche'

and for tiny precious
present
now lost back
there
we looked at each
other
eye level

how soon the circus
rolls into town
and leotards,
makeup,
and cars full
of failed mimes
and land mines
blow it all
sky high

spinning before us
the spiral so pure
everyone tries and
being no
better than everyone
we touch it
but our grip
won't find purchase

just let the thing
glide under your
calloused lovely
fingertips
like clay on a wheel
you gorgeous
genius fool
